Adding interactive games between trivia rounds keeps energy high, increases participation, and creates fun opportunities for fundraising. The key is choosing games that are quick, simple, and engaging for large groups.
Why Games Between Trivia Rounds Work
Short games give players a mental reset while keeping the event moving. They also allow teams that may not be winning trivia to still participate and win prizes.
You can even turn these games into a fundraising opportunity by charging a small entry fee per round.
Quick Rules for Choosing Trivia Break Games
- Keep games 3–4 minutes max

There are a couple visual ways that participants can indicate their answer to each name called:
- Stand for alive, sit for deceased (played similar to Heads or Tails)
- Print and distribute a set of cards from the Dead or Alive Card Template (see image) for each participant to be held up for the host to see

A simple skill-based fundraising game.
How to play:
- Place a prize bottle across the room
- Players pay to toss a coin
- Closest coin wins
Tips:
Clarify bounce rules beforehand
Remove extra coins to avoid confusion.
Hi/Lo
How to play:
- Show one playing card
- Players guess if the next card is higher or lower
- Incorrect guesses sit down
- Continue until one remains
Rule: Aces = lowest value

How to Play 4 Corners with a Large Group
Easy setup, print 4 suit signs prior to the event for each of the four suit symbols ( ♠♥ ♣ ♦). Hang a sign in the four corners of the room. Using a shuffled deck of cards (I love using Amazon’s jumbo card deck for this game for easy visibility).
Great for large groups and high energy.
How to play:
- Label 4 corners with card suits
- Players choose a corner
- Turn over a card to reveal the suit
- Anyone standing in the corner matching the suit suit = eliminated
- Repeat drawing cards until only one player is left
Sink or Float
Perfect mix of trivia and visual fun.
How to play:
To reveal answers, it’s fun to have an aquarium to test them live, otherwise show images of the item placed in an aquarium.
- Show an item
- Teams guess if it sinks or floats
- Tricky examples:
- sunglasses (sink);
- watermelon (float);
- VHS tape (sink);
- candy bar (float);
- can of Crisco (float);
- 12 lb. bowling ball (sink);
